I-7530-G is an RS-232 to CAN converter that lets a PC or any device with a serial port exchange messages with CAN devices. It handles conversion between the two networks, so serial hosts can monitor and control CAN nodes without a dedicated CAN interface.
The CAN port is compatible with CAN 2.0A and 2.0B and conforms to ISO 11898-2, with a jumper-selectable 120 Ω terminal resistor. CAN and RS-232 communication parameters are set in software, and transparent communication mode is supported. The CAN side provides 3000 VDC isolation, helping to protect the RS-232 equipment from faults on the CAN network.
A built-in watchdog monitors operation, and power, data flow and error indicators show the status of both interfaces. The module has a 1000-frame receive buffer on the CAN side and a 900-frame buffer on the RS-232 side. Full-duplex operation of RS-232 devices is not supported. Installation is on a DIN-rail in a plastic housing, with an operating range of -25 ~ +75 °C.
