I-8831-80 CR is an 8-slot Ethernet embedded controller built around an 80186-80 CPU and the MiniOS7 DOS-like embedded operating system. It is intended for engineers who need a compact, networked controller to drive a modular I/O stack from a single unit, with the slots accepting I-8K and I-87K series modules.
The controller provides one RJ-45 Ethernet port alongside three serial COM ports, two RS-232 and one switchable RS-232/RS-485, so it can connect to both network and serial field devices. MiniOS7 boots in 0.4 to 0.8 seconds and includes built-in hardware diagnostics. Software is developed in C, and a 64-bit hardware serial number supports software protection.
Battery-backed SRAM modules, the S-256 (256 KB) and S-512 (512 KB), can be fitted as optional accessories to add data logger storage. The unit is suited to remote data acquisition and control, including environmental monitoring, power management and factory automation.
