PEX-P16POR16i is a PCI Express x1 digital I/O card that adds 16 isolated digital input channels and 16 PhotoMOS relay output channels to a host PC. Both banks use optical coupling, so field signals stay electrically separated from the computer. The input channels are rated for 2000 VDC isolation, which allows floating input signals to break ground loops, absorb voltage spikes and protect the host from damaging voltages.
The digital inputs accept AC or DC signals from 5 to 24 V and can be configured with a selectable DC filter or an AC input filter. The PhotoMOS relay outputs are suited to controlling a circuit from a low-power signal, or to switching several circuits from one signal, with no contact bounce or sparking. A 4-bit Card ID switch on the board lets software tell cards apart when two or more are installed in one computer.
Software support covers Linux, DOS and Windows, with a DLL, ActiveX control and sample programs for a range of C, C++, Visual Basic, C#.NET and LabVIEW environments. The package includes one CA-4037W cable and two CA-4002 D-Sub connectors.
