Produktinformation "PROFI-2542 PROFIBUS to Single-mode Fiber Converter (ST Type)"
The PROFI-2542 CR extends PROFIBUS DP networks over single-mode fiber optic cable. Fiber carries the signal immune to electromagnetic and radio frequency interference, so it suits plants where cable runs are exposed to electrical noise, surges, lightning or corrosive conditions. Two units with 1310 nm single-mode links can be placed up to 10 km apart.
Each unit detects the PROFIBUS transmission rate automatically, up to 12 Mbps, and passes data transparently in both directions. The bus side provides 3000 VDC isolation, and the network is protected against ESD with 4 kV contact discharge on all terminals. Up to 32 stations per PROFIBUS segment are supported.
The unit mounts on a DIN rail and operates from -25 to +75 ℃. Status LEDs for power, transmit and receive help with commissioning and fault finding. It is aimed at automation engineers in factory and process plants who need a robust fiber link for PROFIBUS.
