MSM-508FCS-T is an 8-port industrial Ethernet Layer 2 managed switch with two single-mode 100Base-FX fibre ports using SC connectors. Because data travels over fibre optic links, transmission is immune to EMI and RFI. It suits installations where the network must be kept clear of electrical exposure, surges, lightning and chemical corrosion.
The switch can be configured through its RS-232 console port or over Ethernet using Telnet or a web browser. Its management feature set includes 802.1Q tag-based VLAN, port-based VLAN, 802.1p QoS, port trunking, spanning tree, cable testing and port mirroring. The built-in Cyber-Ring technique allows several switches to be arranged in a redundant ring, typically recovering from a fibre or copper link failure in approximately 20 ms.
Two DC power inputs can be connected at the same time, so a failed supply is covered by the second live source. A relay alarm output signals power or network link failures, and Modbus/TCP, Modbus/RTU and OPC support allow a SCADA system to monitor the status of the Ethernet and fibre ports. This ordering code includes a CA-090510 console cable and a 4SIX1K0000003 wall mount.
