PDS-732D CR is a programmable serial-to-Ethernet device server for bringing legacy RS-232 and RS-485 equipment onto an Ethernet network without replacing the serial devices. The built-in VxComm driver maps the serial ports to virtual COM ports on a Windows PC, so existing COM-based software can continue to work over the network.
The unit runs the MiniOS7 operating system and an Xserver programming structure, allowing custom Ethernet applications to be developed on the device. It can also act as a Modbus TCP to RTU/ASCII gateway, which suits SCADA and HMI systems that speak Modbus TCP to serial field devices. Four digital inputs support latched and counter functions, and four open-collector digital outputs (NPN sink) switch loads up to 30 VDC and 100 mA.
The plastic-cased PDS-732D is intended for DIN-rail or wall mounting and is powered from a +10 ~ 30 VDC terminal block. Its operating range is -25 ~ +75 °C. A watchdog timer and +/-4 kV ESD protection on the serial port support use in demanding environments. A CA-0910 cable is included with each unit.
