The ECAN-240-FD bridges CAN and CAN FD networks to Ethernet using the Modbus TCP industrial protocol. It gives an Ethernet-based controller or SCADA system access to two CAN bus networks through a single RJ-45 port, so CAN devices can be integrated into a wider industrial network without custom gateway software.
The module provides two CAN bus interfaces, each on a 9-pin D-sub connector, and supports CAN 2.0 A/B and CAN FD in line with ISO 11898-2. CAN FD can be switched between the ISO and non-ISO (Bosch) standards, and a built-in DIP switch enables or disables the 120 Ω terminal resistor on each bus.
Beyond Modbus TCP server operation, the gateway can also run in TCP/UDP transparent mode for CAN and CAN FD frames, or in CAN pair mode, which links two CAN networks across Ethernet over UDP. The ordering code ECAN-240-FD CR is the RoHS-listed version of this model.
