The I-2533T-FD is a local bridge that connects two CAN or CAN FD bus systems over a multi-mode fibre optic link. It converts the electrical CAN/CAN FD signal to optical transmission, so the two networks can be separated by a distance that a copper bus cannot cover.
Because each network is isolated from the other, the baud rate on one side does not limit the transmission distance on the other, and the two networks can use different CAN or CAN FD baud rates. A bus error on one network does not affect the operation of the second network, which helps keep faults contained.
Setup is handled by a DIP switch for CAN/CAN FD baud rate, a switchable 120 ohm terminal resistor, CAN bus message filter configuration and basic message routing through Group ID settings. Fibre broken line detection is included for monitoring the optical link.
