I-7188E3D-232 CR is a programmable device server that links RS-232 and RS-485 serial equipment to an Ethernet network. It provides two RS-232 ports and one RS-485 port, so engineers can connect existing serial devices to a network without redesigning them.
Data can be carried either through Virtual COM, where the built-in COM ports appear as standard COM ports on a Windows PC using the VxComm driver, or over a raw TCP connection for direct socket-based communication. The built-in MiniOS7 operating system and Xserver programming structure allow custom Ethernet applications to be developed on the unit.
The unit has four wet/dry digital inputs and four open-collector digital outputs, a status LED display, a watchdog timer and reverse polarity protection on its 10 to 30 VDC supply. Its removable terminal block simplifies wiring, and it operates from -25 °C to +75 °C.
