The PPDS-782-MTCP bridges seven RS-232 devices and one RS-485 device onto an Ethernet network, so legacy serial equipment can be reached from networked hosts without rewiring the control system. Its built-in Modbus TCP to RTU/ASCII gateway lets SCADA and HMI platforms that speak Modbus TCP poll serial slaves directly.
Each serial port can be presented as a virtual COM port on a Windows PC through the VxComm utility, which keeps existing COM-based software working. A programmable device server core, running the MiniOS7 operating system, allows custom Ethernet applications to be built on the unit. The device is powered either by IEEE 802.3af Class 1 Power over Ethernet from a PoE switch or from a +12 ~ 48 VDC terminal block, and it is delivered with a CA-0910 cable.
The compact plastic housing mounts on DIN-rail or wall, with a removable terminal block for wiring in industrial installations.
