uPAC-7186EX-MTCP-G CR is a compact programmable device server for bringing serial equipment onto an Ethernet network. Its built-in Modbus TCP to RTU gateway function lets SCADA and HMI software poll RS-232 or RS-485 devices over the standard Modbus TCP protocol, without writing a custom driver for each one.
The unit runs the MiniOS7 real-time operating system from ICP DAS, and application code is developed in C using the supplied software development tool kit and Modbus libraries. The 80186 CPU at 80 MHz, 512 KB of flash and 512 KB of SRAM provide room for custom logic that sits between the serial and Ethernet sides.
For hardware expansion, the unit provides an I/O expansion bus that accepts one X-board. A watchdog timer, a real-time clock and a 64-bit hardware serial number support dependable unattended operation and device identification. The housing is designed for DIN-rail installation and operates from +10 to 30 VDC across -25 to +75 °C.
