EC2-P16C16 is an EtherCAT slave module that adds 16 digital inputs and 16 digital outputs to an EtherCAT network. Its two RJ-45 bus ports allow stations to be linked in a daisy chain, which reduces the number of cables needed in a distributed system.
The inputs accept wet contacts in sink or source configuration as well as dry contacts, and the input channels are isolated at 3750 VDC. The outputs are open collector sink types with an internal flywheel diode, rated at 500 mA per channel and 40 VDC maximum load voltage. Channel states can be read from the process data or checked on the LED indicators.
The module has passed the EtherCAT conformance test tool, so compliant masters and configurators can work with it directly. Power-on output values are configurable, outputs can be kept after a state machine change, and the module is supplied from +24 VDC with a 3 W consumption.
